Resisting the Devil

We need a paradigm shift when it comes to opposing the kingdom of darkness. Most Christians cower in fear of the devil’s power upon the earth, yet the Word of God says, “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” The Amplified Bible says, “stand firm against him.” James 4:7

Our resistance against the kingdom of darkness has many battle fields. One of the greatest schemes of satan is systemic poverty that has bound mankind for generations. The elimination of poverty is central to the gospel of redemption. When the gospel is preached in nations you see that the byproduct is material transformation.

There is no better example of this redemptive work than the ministry of Latin America Child Care. You find LACC schools located in the poorest of communities and barrios resurrecting children out of the deceptive grip of Satan’s poverty scheme. Now, children that have been raised in the ministry of LACC are young professionals returning to their communities empowered and anointed with the liberating gospel that has freed them personally.

We resist the devil’s work when we promote the “Good News to the poor” message. Luke 4:18

Latin America Child Care Country Coordinators

I am in Atlanta today meeting with Latin America Child Care Country Coordinators. The Coordinators are very special people. They have a daily impact of over 100,000 children throughout Latin America. LACC schools not only provide an excellent education to the most impoverished children of developing countries, they provide medical care, meals, and the empowering, liberating impact of the Gospel.

Please consider sponsoring a child. By making a one time gift of $6,000, you will endow an endless sponsorship. You can also sponsor a child monthly.

Disney instead of Haiti

Due to political and social unrest in Haiti (and the fact that they only have rodents to eat right now), my trip has been postponed. We will go in a few weeks or months.

Since I was going to be working during my daughters spring-break, I booked a vacation at Disney for my wife, Kay and youngest daughter, Courtney. For those who know my wife, know that she is addicted to Disney. It is a thrill for me to see her and Courtney enjoying themselves so much. Of course, it’s not hard for me. I have been playing golf for three days.

Disney’s culture is amazing. I learned a lot about it while I lived here and planted Celebrate Family Church in Celebration. It is remarkable how two opposing influences clash, on the one hand, you have the extreme liberal lifestyles, on the other hand, you have a Christian culture at Disney. Both of the influences are slightly stealth, just under the surface. This campus is a microcosm of the world itself. Every diversity on earth co-mingles here. I said five years ago that living and working here was like seeing a forecast of what we will be facing nationally in just a few years. We are now seeing it. Business as usual is no longer relevant.

LACC Summit

The view is truly spectacular. The snow capped mountains command my attention. It’s hard to turn away from them. Every break between swinging my golf clubs I turn to look at the inspiring scenery. The golf course is always challenging but is in pristine condition for the 2008 U.S Senior Open. I will especially enjoy watching the tournament this year because of my intimate familiarity with the greens. They are challenging to say the least.

We had an incredible time of fellowship. Those who attended are the best of the best. Relationships are so important, so valuable, so encouraging. Each participant at this year’s Summit contributed in so many ways, making the week a special memory.

Ron Barefield told me yesterday, ”I have been doing this for a long time but last nights banquet was the best.”

What made the event so good was the amazing story of how Latin America Child Care rescued a young Costa Rican boy, Daniel Gonzalas, from the barrios to become a medical doctor. Missionary Phil Schmidt revealed the plan of LACC to draw upon the “Dream Seeds” of children and enable them through the gospel to become their dream.

I asked the participants to join me in the challenge of sponsoring 1000 Dream Seeds. With overwhelming enthusiasm they responded. Over 1000 children will be sponsored through this event!

If you would like to be involved in this great endeavor contact LACC.
