The Pursuit of Liberty
”Proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you; each one of you is to return to his family property and each to his own clan.” Leviticus 25:10
The Hebrew word for liberty denotes “swift flight, to move rapidly.”
Thus, the symbol for the United States as an Eagle in flight is appropriate. This remarkable “experiment” has so far worked out well, so rapidly. No country has ever given it’s inhabitants the unbridled freedom for the pursuit of liberty. Of course, this nation isn’t perfect, nor is it’s history without the stain of injustice. But, within the founding documents were pinned the words that released the bonds of those injustices and gave people the ability to gain their freedoms.
I am so grateful for this country. I am grateful for the freedoms that others have afforded me and my family. I owe a debt of gratitude for the rare privilege that I have as an American. Thank you.
